LOTUS ELITE
LeMans Record
1959 - 1964
Held once a year in France since 1923, The 24 Hours of LeMans is the world's most famous sports car racing event. As its name implies, the entered cars and their drivers must race flat out for 24 hours, only stopping at the pits to change drivers, tires, take on gasoline or do permitted repairs. Historically, less than half of the cars entered have ever finished this most grueling of endurance races.
Attesting to the reliability and advanced design of the Lotus Elite, during the six years that Elites were entered in this race, they finished four times in the top 10 places overall and first in class every year. They also won the Index of Thermal Efficiency twice.
